Yoga for Teens Teacher Training with Chloe

Chloe has been working with and teaching yoga to teens for the past 12 years. As a qualified teacher she has an intricate understanding of the education system and the practicalities of teaching yoga to teens. Currently working with a number of schools in the Byron area she has explored various techniques and practices that are most effective to introduce and sustain yoga and meditation for teens.

The first of its kind training to introduce both yoga and mindfulness to teenagers within schools. An ideal training for practioners that are already teaching in schools and want to introduce yoga into the curriculum, or for yoga teachers who would like to expand their skills to offer specialist classes to teens.

The programme will combine both practical and theory workshops complimentary to the key objectives of the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education Key Stages 3-5 Curriculum. A comprehensive training to equip those who work with young people with skills and knowledge of teaching yoga and mindfulness to adolescents. A toolbox of resources to create yoga and mindfulness classes for adolescents that enhances connectedness, sense of self and advocates lifelong commitment to health. Exploration of all aspects of yoga and mindfulness and its contributions to physical, emotional and spiritual health

    Course content  (25 contact hours):

    • Learning to teach yoga postures safely and effectively for teens - exploring differences between genders and level of instructions.
    • Management of the learning environment to maximise participation including sequencing, classroom management techniques, rules and regulations and self care.
    • Introducing philosophy pranayama and mindfulness techniques to teens. A toolbox of activities of effective practices for teens.
    • Self esteem exercises, techniques to promote positive mental health with the yoga classes
    • Understanding the teen “mind” adolescent psychology and introduction to understanding anatomical / physiological development.
    • Establishing and implementing self care strategies in accordance with the department of education guidelines.
    Chloe’s experience and enthusiasm for working with teenagers was evident and inspiring. The course was comprehensive in covering the developmental stages and accompanying experiences that teenagers are facing at this pivotal time in their lives, and practical ways in which yoga can support and provide them with tools for coping with this and begin developing a healthy relationship with themselves to carry into adulthood. I came away from the course with a renewed compassion and respect for this area of teaching, as well as structured class plans and a host of tools and strategies for delivering yoga to teenagers in an effective way. Chloe’s teaching was infused throughout with integrity, enthusiasm and direct knowledge of her field of expertise (not to mention hilarious examples!).
